Just add this to the pile Erica.

I love how succinct this finding is encapsulated. In the long run, broad, protective tariffs depress growth. It may not be felt right away, but the effect compounds rapidly over time.

When I post about tariffs, I am not trying to play politics here. I want what is best for the United States’s growth and prosperity (and the world as a whole). Broad-based tariffs don’t get us to the “golden age.”

This finding correlates well with an observation of Wikipedia’s list of countries by tariff rate. Sort highest to lowest: almost all poor countries have high tariffs, and almost none of the rich ones have high tariffs.

I think I will add this paper to my own write-up on this topic.
